Supervises and participates in the conduct of complex engineering projects, engineering analyses; research, planning and design for a variety of waterworks capital construction planning and/or maintenance programs; plans and directs the work of professional and technical staff; and performs related duties as assigned.
This position will supervise the System Reliability Team, whose responsibility will be the installation of backflow devices throughout the District's service area. The ideal candidate will have sound knowledge of civil engineering practices related to potable water transmission, distribution infrastructure, and backflow; demonstrate strong leadership skills in the areas of project management, mentoring staff, and cross departmental communication; and have experience preparing annual capital and operating budgets.
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in civil engineering; and eight years of professional engineering experience, including experience in public waterworks design and construction, with at least three years of experience at the level of the District's Civil Engineer class; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: A valid certificate of registration as a Professional Engineer issued by the State of Nevada, or the ability to obtain this certificate within one year of employment. A valid Nevada driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's Vehicle Insurance Policy.
