CAREER OPPORTUNITY Senior Engineer Design-Traction Distribution

POSITION OBJECTIVE Manage in-house design support services for capital and non-capital improvement projects as related to H&H substations and H&H traction distribution systems with emphasis on Sandy infrastructure recovery and resiliency.
Provide project review, guidance and direction to consultants on designs as related to H&H traction distribution.
Review and approve all design and construction submittals on all H&H traction distribution projects.
Coordinate with Senior Engineer – Power Design to insure all department standards are adhered to.
Perform value engineering review on all traction distribution capital projects.
Coordinate with Assistant Director - Traction Distribution (Construction) to insure construction activities adhere to approved design plans.
Develop and update power distribution standards and related drawings and specifications.
Research, evaluate, and introduce innovations in traction distribution systems.
Must possess strong working knowledge and understanding of direct current (DC) traction power systems, direct current (DC) traction distribution systems, and their related sub-systems.
Competent understanding of electrical codes and standards, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, and utility practices.
Must be proficient on AutoCad 2014 computer software and engineering drafting protocols.
Strong computer skills with proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and/or comparable PC applications.
Strong verbal & written communication skills with the ability to speak effectively in a group setting.
Ability to manage multi-faceted projects and adhere to deadlines.
Must be a self-starter with the ability to provide engineering design solutions to complex problems.
Strong analytical skills and problem solving skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
Familiarity with Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling and/or comparable systems.
Possess project management skills to develop project scope, progress schedules and budget estimates.
Ability to be self-motivated and to work well with a diverse management/agreement employee workforce.
Knowledge of force account and FTE concepts.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must be available 24/7.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Engineering Technology.
Minimum five (5) years of experience with a traction power related position.
Minimum three (3) years of experience managing projects.
Familiar with Geographical Information System (GIS).
This is a safety sensitive position and subject to toxicological testing.
