The City of Morganton is seeking a team oriented manager with strong leadership and effective organizational skills to join the Development and Design Department as the City Engineer. Candidate must be proficient in long range planning, project management, and possess strong verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to effectively share information and ideas with a wide range of stakeholders. The position is a key player in creating, planning, and coordinating projects with outside agencies, contractors, and local and State governments and requires the ability to understand the overall objectives as well as the technical details of execution.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering from an ETAC/ABET accredited program or related science curriculum and experience to be eligible for PE licensure in North Carolina; a current PE license from the state of North Carolina or ability to obtain said license within six months, and at least five years of experience in professional engineering work on projects similar to those typically found in local government (storm water, road design, sewer collection, water distribution, etc.)
