Diab Americas is seeking a Project Engineer to work as part of the Diab Technical Organization, providing a wide range of services including product support, internal development projects, and external consulting services. Typical projects include structural design and analysis from design concept to production, laboratory testing of composite materials, and process design and implementation. Work involves composite part design, analysis and testing at Diab facilities and may involve training and prototype construction at customer facilities. Project Engineers may be required to travel, both domestic and internationally, to complete consulting assignments, attend meetings, and represent Diab at industry events.
Position is located in the Dallas area. Relocation assistance or out of state residency may be considered for the ideal candidate.
Support use of Diab products and services in all market applications
Composite panel and part fabrication for testing- vacuum bag, autoclave, press molding, pre-pregs, infusion, RTM, thermoforming, thermoplastics
Materials testing and data package development - mechanical, physical, FST, dielectric, etc
Develop and produce sales tools and demonstration parts.
Train sales teams and customers about Diab products
Structural design and analysis - classical hand, computer and finite element methods. Prepare analysis reports.
Publish/present technical papers/seminars relevant to sandwich composites
Travel (~25-50%): to customer facilities to train, develop solutions, troubleshoot and support sales; attend industry conferences; participate in company meetings
Good knowledge of composites, materials science, strength of materials
Strong problem solving skills and ability to react quickly to resolve problems
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects
Attention to detail
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Excellent computer skills - proficiency with MS Office and ability to learn new software
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures for composite design and construction (i.e. composite mechanics, hand lay-up, vacuum bag, vacuum infusion, RTM)
FEA proficiency with FEMAP and NASTRAN
3D CAD proficiency, preferably SolidWorks and/or Rhino
Familiar with classification societies
Academic / Educational Training Requirements:
Bachelors Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering (or a related discipline such as Aerospace Engineering, Composites Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Naval Architecture) with 1-5 years of experience in the composites design or related area
