Opportunity The College of Architecture and Environmental Design (CAED) at Kent State University is seeking applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track position as Assistant Professor or Lecturer in Construction Management. Candidates should have experience and/or expertise in building construction management highlighted by demonstrable teaching in such areas including, but not limited to: estimating, materials and methods, contracts and law, scheduling, and project management and/or construction courses at the graduate level.
Qualifications: A master's degree is required. Preference will be given to those with degrees in construction management and/or construction engineering. A minimum of five (5) years of construction industry experience, focusing on construction management in the building industry.
Preferred Qualifications: University teaching experience, vertical (building) construction experience, and collaboration with design professionals.
The CAED is comprised of growing disciplines – with particular emphasis on expanding the Construction Management program. As an ACCE-accredited program, Construction Management educates leadership-oriented professionals prepared to work collaboratively with building designers and engineers. The program has over 250 students. There are currently four full-time and 10+ part-time faculty. The department website, http://www.kent.edu/CAED, contains a full description of the program.

The CAED's distinguished faculty, cutting-edge facilities, and programs in Construction Management, Architecture, Architectural Studies, Interior Design, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, Health Care Design, and Architecture and Environmental Design offer numerous cross-disciplinary research opportunities while maintaining close relationships with regional industries and practitioners. Resources include a state-of-the-art Fabrication Lab and other digital design assets, unique international study opportunities, a progressive co-curricular lecture and exhibition series, workshops, and campus partnerships with other units including the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Aeronautics and Engineering, College of Business Administration and the Advanced Materials and Liquid Crystal Institute. Facilities available for research, collaboration, and teaching include a lighting laboratory facility, a materials library, and labs that include robotic arms, 3-D printing and scanning, virtual reality, laser cutting, environmental testing, and a full construction laboratory.
The CAED's 32 full-time faculty, administrators, and over 1000 undergraduate and graduate students occupy three exciting locations: the spectacular new 110,000 sq. ft. John Elliot Center for Architecture and Environmental Design, designed by Weiss/Manfredi, in Kent; the Graduate Studios and Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative located at Playhouse Square in Cleveland; and the Palazzo Vettori in the historic center of Florence, Italy.
