Sr. Technical Specialist/Engineer - Large Diameter Water Lines

Provide technical advice, training and other services related to the planning, design and construction of large diameter water mains (24-inch diameter and larger) and appurtenances including linings, coatings, bends, valves, thrust restraint, access manways, outlets, etc.; specific detailed knowledge and expertise including but not being limited to:
Technical standards related to large diameter water lines (e.g., AWWA and ASCE standards and manuals of practice, ASTM standards, API standards, ASME codes related to pressure vessels, etc.).
Formulas and procedures related to the analysis, design, construction and evaluation of large diameter water lines and appurtenances, and ability to apply them to both common and uncommon situations.
Means and methods of constructing large diameter water lines using both open cut and trenchless technologies, including related activities such as pressure testing and disinfection.
Inspection and assessment of in-service large diameter water lines.
Means and methods for the repair and rehabilitation for large diameter water mains constructed of all materials in common usage in the last 50 years, including ductile iron pipe, steel pipe, prestressed concrete cylinder pipe, fiberglass reinforced pipe, and others, as well as linings and coatings.
The conduct of professional services related to large diameter water lines, including project management; scope of services preparation; level of effort determination; design calculations; route selection and design; the development of preliminary and final construction drawings, technical specifications, quantity take-offs, estimates of probable construction cost, estimates of probable construction duration, bases of design, and construction submittal lists; and construction phase services such as shop drawing and submittal review, preparation of responses to request for information and change orders, inspection, periodic site observation, and development of preliminary and final punch lists.
Supervise and mentor engineers, designers and technicians
Perform, coordinate and oversee the performance of various engineering tasks by technical staff and subconsultants.
Review and critique proposals, plans, or designs.
Conduct quality control reviews and quality assurance audits.
Serve as point of contact for clients.
Prepare reports and studies.
Review and evaluate engineering reports from consultants and agencies.
Assist with successful delivery of marketing and business development opportunities, including coordination with other BGE offices.
Registered P.E. in Texas
15+ years experience related to the planning, design and construction of large diameter water mains.
AWWA, ASTM, API or other applicable technical and advisory committees relevant to large diameter water line design, construction, maintenance and repair; preferably have participated as a member of such committees.
