We are looking to hire for the position of Quality Control Specialist at the MSM – North East MD Facility (Greater Baltimore Area). The incumbent will work directly with Facility Operations Management and Corporate Quality Management, analyzing manufacturing processes for conformance to specifications and improvement using various methods of testing and inspection.
Responsibilities
Develop, apply and maintain quality requirements and standards for the maintenance and repair of continuous caster equipment and related products.
Serve as the primary quality assurance resource to facility supervisors, team leaders and employees for problem identification, resolution, nonconformance reporting and continuous improvement.
Coordinate and Lead Monthly Quality Meetings. Review NCR’s, CC’s, TCS along with past-future quality related events.
Design and implement methods for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
Promote and execute quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, documents and reports.
Perform hands-on demonstration and training for test, gaging and inspection methods to shop-floor operators.
Manage ISO 9001-2015 Document Control System
Lead Root Cause and Corrective Actions of Nonconformance.
Maintain and Monitor Nonconformance Reporting System
Maintain and Monitor Customer Compliant Reporting System
Participate in continual process improvement and optimization activities.
Review customers purchase orders, contracts and change requests and ensure that the necessary criteria and provisions are included in quality and process plans.
Act as Facility Management Representative for ISO Quality Audits and Management Reviews.
Report to management on quality issues and trends.
Review suppliers purchase orders and establish supplier quality requirements.
Participate in internal and external ISO Quality Audits.
Interface with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality assurance and assure that effective corrective action is implemented.
Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Participate in process design to enhance quality and safety.
Education/Experience/Skills/Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in quality engineering, industrial engineering, welding engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering or equivalent (or Associate’s degree in these fields plus minimum 4 years of industrial experience).
Five years of experience in a quality management or quality engineer role or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with machine manufacturing a plus. Experience in a job shop or machine shop environment, a plus
Experience with Submerged Arc welding, Manual Machining or CNC Machining, a plus.
Advanced skills in Microsoft applications, especially Excel
Excellent communication skills, Problem Solving/Analysis, Decision Making. Collaboration Skills. Blue Print Reading.
ASQ Certified ISO Auditor and/or ASQ Certified ISO Lead Auditor, SAP familiarity. ASQ 6-Sigma certification or ASQ Certification in Lean Manufacturing principles are a plus.
