Requirements Project and Client Management - Assist PM’s and Assistant PM’s in the budget and schedule management of the technical aspects of projects
- Lead technical aspects of project meetings
- Assist in communications with clients per PM direction
- Communicate with PM’s and Assistant PM’s regularly and proactively about project and technical details; communicate any significant technical challenge, deviation from procedures and metrics, or incidents that occurs on projects
Technical - Review data, analyze information, and determine compliance with standards and design concepts
- Lead the creation of preliminary and completed layouts, design concepts, and detailed design drawings, so that they meet our company and industry standards and codes
- Research and obtain standards/codes required by client and jurisdiction coordinating with Project Management and technical staff as necessary to accurately and efficiently develop plans
- Exercise judgement on details of work and technical concepts and theoretical design and apply to real world situations
- Oversee and review work by technical and professional staff that relates to work under the Professional’s Responsible Charge
- Prepare planning and design documents, reports, and calculations
- Stamp and seal own work and work performed by those under direct supervision, per governing board and professional, ethical rules
- Work with PM’s and technical staff to create and administrate the technical scope of work, schedule, and budget
- Complete deliverables and project responsibilities within scope, budget, and schedule, reviewing drawings for completeness and accuracy
- Organize and maintain all revisions of project-related information per our Company policies and procedures
- Use, teach, and delegate the use of various applications to generate drawings, reports, or other technical based deliverables based on specific project requirements
- Initiate and monitor quality control (QC) processes and teach technical aspects and policies of the Department and Company; analyze and propose QC improvements
- Analyze technical problems; devise new or improved techniques, approaches, and alternative solutions; and communicate those to others in the Department
- Use and promote company’s current technology as much as practicable to design projects
- Investigate, promote, and integrate new technologies in collaboration with management
- Participate in scheduled Team meetings and project meetings and lead technical discussions
- Fiscal responsibility for the associated technical portions of a project
Personnel and Team Leadership - Lead, supervise, and monitor direct reports to achieve the goals and strategies for the Team and Department
- Participate in career path planning, mentorship, and development (including training plans), performance plans, mentoring, and resource sharing for direct reports
- Lead, develop, and contribute to effective communication, performance management, and strategic skills needed to achieve Company, Department, Team, and project goals.
- Participate in Department/Company recruitment efforts
- Create a positive environment; lead and engage in Company, Department, and Team meetings routinely, team building efforts, and community involvement
- Actively coach team members to meet performance goals; handling issue resolution with HR and supervisors as needed.
- Work with other teams to share resources
Client and Business Development - Participate in civic and community events
- Seek opportunities for cross-selling to enhance and expand our existing client relationships during and after projects
- Assist in the creation of technical expertise information for Marketing purposes
Required qualifications include: - Registration as a Professional in the appropriate field of expertise, i.e. P.E., P.L.A.
- Self-motivated, engaged, and team-oriented with the ability to work independently
- Execute multiple tasks under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilities
- Understand planning and/or design concepts and methods and challenge convention for the benefit of the Department
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Willingness to mentor and lead technical staff
- Energetic, flexible, confident, and forward thinking
- 4 to 8+ years of experience in the appropriate field of expertise
- Develops submittal responses to RFQs/RFPs
- Markets/represents the company in a positive and professional manner
- 3+years of experience in leading teams
Preferred qualifications include: - AutoCAD, Microstation, AutoCAD Civil3D, Geopak, and/or graphic software experience
- Experience in Microsoft Office applications
