The Alexandria Utility System is a full service municipal utility offering electric, gas, water, and wastewater services; in addition the AUS is a MISO member which owns and operates 139MW of natural gas fired generating assets. The successful candidate will be required to perform professional engineering work of an advanced level in the planning, design, plan review, construction, and maintenance of City infrastructure and utilities. The preferred candidate will be an engineer with a broad background who is comfortable working on multiple, interdisciplinary projects.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, as designated by the appropriate department; supplemented by five (5) years of design, plan review, and engineering experience.
Must possess and maintain a license as a Professional Engineer by the Louisiana State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
Registered engineers from another state shall have one (1) year to become certified within the State of Louisiana.
Must possess a valid driver's license. Will be required to obtain a valid State of Louisiana driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain throughout employment for this classification.
