The Controls Engineer is responsible for the design, development and upgrade of machine controls for a diverse array of custom DNA manufacturing equipment in a high throughput biology manufacturing environment.
Under supervision, participates in the design and planning of control systems to support DNA production and research activities including the following:
Works closely with customers and product development teams to identify and document testable design requirements.
Programs PLC, HMIs, controls hardware, and other manufacture-specific programming software as needed.
Works in the lab to assemble, test and optimize prototype design work.
Select electrical components for designs of electrical control panels, safety subsystems, ect. in compliance with design standards including CE, UL, NEC, NFPA codes.
Develops electrical system designs including the following: Electrical schematics, panel layouts, and product bill of materials. These would be documented in CAD or CAD Electrical.
Develops test plans, tests, and writes reports for control systems.
Works closely and in conjunction with other project teams on other development, documentation, assembly, and support services as needed.
Participates in periodic project reviews to keep projects on track and provides reports to managers

Education(one of the following required):
Bachelors in Engineering
Associates Degree with 3 years of direct work experience in programming PLC's
Minimum of 5 years of experience performing controls and automation work
CAD drafting experience preferred
PLC programming experience preferred
