The Quality Engineer is an essential member of Fisk Quality Assurance Department responsible for ensuring that quality systems are properly established and maintained for effective and efficient internal compliance and customer satisfaction. The responsibilities of the Quality Engineer will complement those of the Quality Manager. This position reports to the Quality Manager who in turn reports to the Director of Quality and Process Engineering.
Develop control plans, flow diagrams and quality assurance segments for process routers.
Conduct Internal Quality Audits to ISO and internal quality requirements.
Perform gage selection, validation and calibration functions.
Assist in providing resolution to customer complaints/rejections including conducting required analysis.
Determine root cause and corrective action through 8D and 5 why studies, etc.
Support the Quality Management System through document generation and control and gage R&R studies.
Lead verification and improvement of processes through analysis of the test results, FMEA analysis and cost of quality studies.
Coordinate and communicate RoHS, REACH and other environmental requirements.
Apply SPC techniques to determine opportunities for process optimization and improvement and reduce process variations.
Mentor, advise, and train others in applying Six Sigma methodology as a standard process
Analyze non-conformance and quality data to establish trends and opportunities for improvement.
Maintain liaison with standards organizations and keep abreast of the latest changes.
Stay current on relevant standards and establish QA procedures and training according to the standards and customer requirements.
Ascertain that the proper equipment is available to conduct required QA procedures.
Participate in and maintain supplier performance and quality rating.
Engage in Lean initiatives and other improvement projects.
Generate and execute continuous improvement projects targeted to reduce waste, improve product quality, and reduce manufacturing cycle time
Essential Job Responsibilities and Major Contributions:
Utilization of Six Sigma tools (DMAIC process) for problem solving
Greenbelt or Blackbelt certification preferred
ISO, SPC, PPAP, FMEA and 8D capabilities.
Utilization of the DMAIC process, 6Sigma toolset for problem solving
Generate SOP’s for ISO compliance and other initiatives as required
Engage in efforts to create and implement standard work practices on the manufacturing floor
Engage in Lean initiatives that include driving quality-at-the-source
Job Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience in direct technical support role in a manufacturing environment
Must demonstrate clear and effective communication skills.
Must be self-motivated, energetic and independent thinker.
Must exhibit passion for Six Sigma problem solving methods and demonstrate mature understanding of key concepts and principles
Demonstrate clear and effective communication and presentation skills
Individual should be a self-motivated, assertive thinker that can work effectively in a freely structured environment

Education (minimum and preferred) and Experience (number of years):
Minimum: BS degree in Mechanical , Electrical, Industrial Engineering or equivalent
Preferred: Experience in working with MRP systems; formal Lean and/or 6Sigma training; Project Management training
3+ years in a Quality support role, industrial/manufacturing environment
Special Professional Certifications/Licenses (minimum and preferred):
