The Department of Biological & Ecological Engineering at Oregon State University seeks to fill three tenure/tenure-track Water Resources Faculty positions in the fields of (1) Sustainable Groundwater Management Engineer, (2) Integrated Water Quality Management Engineering and (3) Agricultural Water Management/Extension Irrigation Specialist. The Integrated Water Quality Management Engineer position has the potential to join OSU under the Miner Endowed Professorship as an Associate or Full Professor.

The focus of this cluster hire is to address critical water management issues in the state, region, nation and globe. These positions will address priorities of national and global relevance, improving natural resource management, agricultural competitiveness and resilience through interactions with the state and regions many stakeholders while maintaining key ecosystem services in our landscapes. The successful candidates will develop nationally-recognized research programs. Areas of focus include:
Sustainable Groundwater Management Engineer: Groundwater modeling; surface water interactions; fate and transport; socio-hydrology; decision making around groundwater management; response to systems under changing environmental and regulatory conditions.
Integrated Water Quality Management Engineer: Bio– and phyto-remediation; fertility/nutrient management; food-energy-water nexus; land management impacts on watersheds; design of biological treatment systems; fate and transport; engineered systems for water quality
Agricultural Water Management/Extension Irrigation Specialist: Irrigation system innovation, evaluation and assessment; sensor and sensor integration; basin-scale water management; food-energy-water nexus; agricultural resiliency and sustainability
Successful candidates may also teach graduate and/or undergraduate level class(es) in the area of water resources engineering and technology, and provide outreach/training opportunities within the state. Creative strategies to foster student success and diversity are important aspects of these positions.

The Biological & Ecological Engineering Department is devoted to the application of engineering, ecological and life-science principles and problem-solving techniques to the optimum use and sustainability of ecological resources. About Biological & Ecological Engineering, Oregon State University
The Biological & Ecological Engineering (BEE) Department mission is to achieve national and international recognition as a center of excellence for integrated research and education in the programs broadly defined as Ecological Engineering, Biological Engineering, and Water Resources Engineering while maintaining strong outreach links to the agricultural and natural resources communities.
The department resides in the College of Agricultural Sciences, and the academic programs are conducted in collaboration with the College of Engineering.
The department faculty are leaders in their fields with common interests in ecological, environmental, biological, and water resource systems. The department comprises about 15 faculty members and instructors, 7 staff members and research associates, 30 graduate students, and 110 undergraduate students
The BEE Department offers academic programs at the undergraduate and graduate level. At the undergraduate level, students can pursue a B.S. in Ecological Engineering. Our graduate students can participate in one of two programs, the BEE-hosted Biological & Ecological Engineering graduate program (M.S. and Ph.D) or the interdisciplinary Water Resources Graduate Program (M.S. and Ph.D).
