About Anthony Papavasiliou
I am an associate professor (chargé de cours définitif) at the Université catholique de Louvain. My teaching affiliation is with the department of Mathematical Engineering. My research affiliation is with the Center for Operations Research and Econometrics (CORE). I hold the ENGIE Chair and the Francqui Research Professorship.
Formerly I completed my PhD and post-doctoral research at the department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at UC Berkeley, working with Professor Shmuel Oren. I completed my undergratuate studies at the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering with a focus on electric power systems and power electronics.
I am a recipient of an ERC Starting Grant under the 2019 funding cycle. I am serving as an associate editor for Operations Research and for the IEEE Transactions on Power Systems. I have served as a guest associate editor for the IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy (2019). I have served in the technical program committees of the Power Systems Computation Conference (2016, 2018, 2020), PowerTech (2019), the ACM Workshop on Energy Market Engineering (2018, 2019), and ...EnergyCon (2016). I have received the 2015 INFORMS best publication award in energy. I have served as a consultant for the Belgian Regulatory Authority for Electricity and Gas, N-SIDE, the Center for European Energy Regulators, Quantil, Stratec, and SunRun, and as a researcher for the United States Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Palo Alto Research Center, and the E3MLab.
