East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) invites qualified professionals to apply for the position of Associate Civil Engineer in the Water Transfer Section in the Water Supply Improvements Division (WSID). Reporting to a Senior Engineer, the Associate Civil Engineer is a registered professional engineer level position on the EBMUD civil engineering career ladder.
This Division performs technical and management work to study, plan for, and develop supplemental water supplies for EBMUD. The Water Transfer section within WSID focuses on water transfer related supplemental supply projects. Staff conducts engineering studies and technical analysis, prepares environmental documentation, works on multi-agency agreements and contracts, and provides liaison services to both state and federal water resources-related regulatory agencies and government bodies. The Associate Civil Engineer will focus on securing water transfers during droughts as a supplemental supply, monitor and maintain relationships with local, state, and federal agencies, and represent EBMUD in forums related to Central Valley Project water supplies, water transfers, and banking.
Specific responsibilities may include: • Conducting environmental assessments and preparing environmental documentation to comply with the water transfer requirements of CEQA and NEPA. • Developing and managing agreements and contracts with partner agencies, state and federal agencies, cities, counties, and other entities. • Analyzing potential future water supplies and water transfer projects. • Understanding and analyzing EBMUD’s water supply system to develop water conveyance solutions. • Managing project budgets and schedules.
The salary range is $10,455 per month increasing to $10,978, $11,527, $12,103 and $12,708 after 6, 18, 30, and 42 months, respectively.

Requirements:
Any combination of education and experience that has led to the acquisition of the knowledge and abilities indicated above. Typical means of acquiring the essential knowledge and abilities is a combination of training and experience equivalent to:
1. A bachelor’s degree in an ABET-accredited civil (or closely related) engineering curriculum OR a California EIT Certificate;
2. Four years of professional civil and/or closely related engineering experience (subsequent to obtaining the degree), which is equivalent to two years of experience at EBMUD’s Assistant Engineer level; AND
3. California registration as a Professional Civil Engineer.
