Positions for postdoctoral associates and a research technician are available in the lab of Edgar Cahoon in the Center for Plant Science Innovation at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). Successful candidates will participate in fundamental and translational research on lipid metabolism in crop and model plants. Projects entail gene discovery, specialized biosynthetic pathway characterization, and synthetic biology for metabolic engineering of fatty acid, triacylglycerol (oil), or high-value carotenoid metabolism for food, feed, industrial product, and biofuel applications. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to advance discoveries from the lab to the field and evaluate new plant-derived products through collaborations with application scientists. Postdoctoral positions require a PhD and the research technician position requires a BS or MS in plant biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology or related disciplines. Prior experience in plant biochemistry, molecular biology, and/or biotechnology and excellent written and oral communication skills are also required. Successful candidates will have access to professional development activities in the UNL Center for Plant Science Innovation, a dynamic interdisciplinary research & development and training program in fundamental and translational plant sciences. Inquiries and applicant cv’s should be directed to Edgar Cahoon by email at ecahoon2@unl.edu.
