Summary
The City of Bend Engineering and Transportation & Mobility Departments are currently seeking applicants for two (2) Engineer positions at various levels within the job family. These opportunities are FLSA exempt (overtime ineligible) positions, are non-represented and will be filled at either the Senior Engineer, Project Engineer, or Engineering Associate level, depending on candidate experience. The preference is to fill the positions at the Senior Engineer or Project Engineer level.
This recruitment will also be used to determine an eligibility list for upcoming vacancies at various levels for up to 6 months. The eligibility list may be canceled at anytime, at the discretion of the City.

Position 1: Engineering Department
This role focuses on managing mid to large capital projects, encompassing a wide range of municipal initiatives. In the near term, there is greater focus on transportation projects funded by a Transportation GO Bond. Responsibilities include overseeing projects from concept through construction, and engaging with the public, other agencies, and various departments.
The ideal candidate is an innovative, experienced, self-motivated senior-level engineer responsible for the successful delivery of projects in the Transportation and Accessibility CIPs which may also include components of other CIPs including Water, Stormwater, Sewer, or General Obligation Transportation Bond.
The successful candidate will have proven experience in the full project life cycle of infrastructure project delivery. This includes, but is not limited to planning, design, design management, mentorship/supervision to engineer and field staff, project document assembly, procurement practices, project management, fiscal accountability, and construction management.

This role involves working on a mix of smaller projects and mobility programs aimed at enhancing safety, reducing congestion, and providing diverse travel options. The successful candidate will collaborate with private developers, capital project engineers, the public, operations crews, and other City departments. We seek individuals with a strong background in multi-modal transportation, as this position reviews development and capital projects, responds to public transportation inquiries, and manages smaller safety and multi-modal projects. Additionally, this role may include in-house design work to support quick-build projects.

Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university in Civil Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities as outlined in this job description.
4 to 5 years’ experience in a similar position and/or performing similar tasks.
Certification as a Professional Engineer in the State of Oregon required, or acquire within six months of appointment.
Current and valid Driver's license per City policies outlined in the Employee Handbook.
